Graft-Breacher

At a glance: Machine-Graft elite melee wrecker · slow armored siege engine that ignores infantry and shears through towers and walls · soft parasite back rewards flanking fire · appears in Deadlane / Scourge-Survivors / Rothulk.

A Machine-Graft Scourge elite grown through the frame of a conquered industrial machine — pistons, hull plating, and hydraulic limbs rewired by parasite tissue into a living siege engine. Its original function is irretrievable; what remains is a slow, armoured melee wrecker that ignores soft targets entirely and tears through towers, walls, and barricades until nothing stands. It is the close-range counterpart to the Rot-Engine: where the Rot-Engine dissolves a fortification from range, the Graft-Breacher walks up and shears it apart.

Behaviour

  • Advances at a methodical pace; swarm units route around it to fill the gap it punches open.
  • Prioritises structures over infantry — towers, walls, and barricades draw aggression first.
  • Primary attack: a massive demolition-claw (the machine’s original heavy arm, now fused with chitin and parasite sinew) that shears through fortified material in two or three swings.
  • Secondary: when the demolition arm is destroyed or the Graft-Breacher takes sustained flanking fire, the exposed parasite mass erupts — a tendril burst that staggers nearby infantry and briefly blinds tower targeting.
  • Heavily armoured from the front; the parasite growth crowding the back plates is softer and takes bonus damage, rewarding flanking fire.

Gameplay Read

  • Large, slow silhouette — reads as a structure threat even at full lane distance.
  • Industrial frame (riveted hull, pistons, hydraulic joints) still recognisable through the parasite overgrowth.
  • One oversized demolition-claw on the dominant arm; the opposite limb is a wet tendril cluster.
  • Toxic-green breach cores glow from the torso where the machine’s control systems used to be.
  • Taking sustained fire from behind triggers a visible tendril-burst tell before the eruption.

Visual Motifs

  • Heavy machine frame consumed from within — metal seams split by chitin growth, sinew threading through piston rods.
  • Black chitin crawling up hydraulic joints and riveted hull plates.
  • Toxic-green nodes at former gauge panels and control points.
  • Asymmetry: one massive machine-arm preserved as a siege weapon; the opposite side replaced by a heaving mass of wet parasite tissue and reaching tendrils.
  • Rust, cracked industrial hull paint, and old warning-stripe markings barely legible under the growth.

Sprite Brief

  • Views: front, side, back.
  • Front reads as armoured and dangerous to structures, not a simple infantry threat.
  • Side silhouette shows the asymmetry clearly: heavy claw vs. tendril cluster.
  • Back view exposes the soft parasite mass — the player reward for flanking.
  • Scale: noticeably larger than Swarm-Ripper; slower and less massive than Breach-Boss.
  • Visual lock: Graft Breacher Design Lock.

Prompt Seed

Scourge elite machine-graft, industrial walker frame overtaken by parasite, black chitin threading through riveted metal joints and piston rods, one massive demolition-claw fused with bone-sinew, toxic-green breach cores where control panels were, asymmetric wet tendril mass on opposite side, old warning-stripe paint barely visible under growth, DOOM-like blood and rust and gunmetal, no neon.

Appears In

  • Deadlane — elite wave enemy; tower-breaker that must be prioritised or a lane collapses
  • Scourge-Survivors — heavy elite in breach rooms and mid-depth corridors; flanking is the intended counter
  • Rothulk — living route-seal / wall-breaker inside the bio-hulk climb; it turns the nest’s machine-graft anatomy into moving terrain pressure
